"Democracies have the right to protect their social arrangements, and when this right clashes with the requirements of the global economy, it is the latter that should give way.” - Dani Rodrik in The Globalization Paradox.

About Me

My photo
Timothy Shipp is an American expat currently living in Helsinki, Finland. He makes his living as a coffee roaster and as a writer. His freetime is spent cooking and sharing food, travelling, reading, writing and learning.

He grew up in Oregon and fell in love with the outdoors. He later moved to Massachusetts to pursue his Masters Degree in Global Economic Development Policy and has covered economic news for Record at theinternational.org.

The people he admires most are activists, good journalists, academics, musicians, the economists that get it right, and everyone who keeps up the fight for human dignity.

He is passionate about social justice, the environment, ecology, the politics of food, economic policy, wealth creation, anti-austerity movements, and anything else that catches his interest.
